I am Eivind Fonn

23 years old (as of september 2008), living in Trondheim, Norway, where I study mathematics.

I am primarily a correspondence chess player. I do play some non-blitz (e.g. 15-30 minutes) OTB games every now and then, but my level of play is significantly lower.

In the grand scheme of things, my style of play probably comes out as "positionally aggressive". Most often, I play with the endgame in mind. I really like endgames with minor pieces and pawns (I guess you could say that's my specialty), so I have an overtendency to exchange major pieces sometimes.

On the whole, when I play "live" games OTB I will adopt a much more careful, positional, quiet endgame-oriented style than if I play slower correspondence games.

I am

the_bb on Gameknot (1803)
The_BB on Schemingmind (1924)
TheBB on Stan's netchess (2388)
TheBB on FICS (1757)

If I'm to name one game that's really _me_, it'll have to be this one, where I'm black:

TheBB: There's a video with Capablanca speaking on Youtube, however. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuy...

TheBB: <In a way, Carlsen's e4 is not really different than Adam's take on it for years. It's like Karpov playing Adam's opening rep.> Adams was providing prep for Carlsen, actually.

TheBB: <I know this technically an endgame since the queens are off> Err, what? Never heard this notion. Queenless middlegames aren't that rare.

TheBB: I would like to see someone other than Anand challenge Carlsen, but that would be hard to justify judging from the games here.

TheBB: <chessdgc2> It was Aronian-Anand of course. CG.com always show the leader(s). You can see the result on the tournament page, it was a draw.

TheBB: Trent, that is. Presumably not Andreikin.

TheBB: <chessdgc2> I would suggest numbering your variations properly. I would hate to look back at this game a year in the future and see all the comments being about move 1.

TheBB: <devere> Yep, the WC cycles are supposed (or at least intended) to run over two year periods, the last couple of years being exceptions ultimately traceable back to 2006.
