Apr-12-02 Schlechter vs A Nimzowitsch, 1912

The Young Learner: At move 49 I see no reason why white could not capture the b pawn, evening the game. Also white would never have been down if at move 21 he recaptured with the pawn. True, he would have bad pawn positioning but when the game comes down to a pawn losing one loses the game. |

Apr-11-02 Shirov vs J Piket, 2002

The Young Learner: I was thinking why would black run towards white if it had a chance for escape at 36. ... by going to d5 but that also loses his queen and either way it's over. I must tell you I am still quite impresses how good these guys can play blindfolded. It never ceases to amaze ... |

Apr-11-02 H Von Hennig vs Langner, 1926

The Young Learner: At move 14 here are a few other possibilities for white: 14. Kf7+ Rxf7 15. Bxf7! Opening up the d file giving blacks queen basically no other choice but to exchange queens at 15 ...Qxd1 16.eRxd1 threatening mate in order to let his bishop escape and also a huge material ... |

The Young Learner: operator error? What makes you say that? Don't you mean human error? But this is a very strange game it makes no sense for the givaway and of course no master plan since the game ends only a few moves later. |

Apr-11-02 Anand vs F Vallejo Pons, 2002
|
The Young Learner: I totally agree but there is so much more that goes on OTHER than on the board... maybe he got nervous or scared or something. Also at this time he had no openings no plans for advancing an attack so maybe just plain and simple he was satisfied with the draw. -Andrew ... |

Apr-09-02 L Szwarcman vs Alekhine, 1916
|
The Young Learner: I think the Rb1 for black can be countered with white pushing the f pawn, though white's king will still be on the run. I also realized white HAD to move his knight there because there was also the possibility for black to move his rook to e2 which forces the queen away ... |

Apr-08-02 Rubinstein vs Salwe, 1908
|
The Young Learner: I'd say rook to a7 on move 25... was a waste. black should have better guarded his pawns, and he focused on the worng one. The weak pawn was the c pawn. there was different things he may have done, but I consider playing 25...Bd7

Mar-08-02 Morphy vs Maurian, 1854
|
The Young Learner: oh thats why! When black resigned I studied this for 10 minutes wondering why. I wasnt even paying attention to that bishop! Well, I feel pretty ignorant to not pay attention to that. I just kept thinking how black had enough pieces and he could somehow stop that pawnand ... |

Mar-08-02 Morphy vs Maurian, 1854
|
The Young Learner: I completely agree, Sneaky. If you want to break it down into the point system they were actually even, and as far as positioning goes black did have a pretty good advantage. Though I can say white's last move I disagree with, he should have 16. Qg6+ forcing the king in ... |
