Jun-24-15 L Day vs M Schleifer, 1991
Mabashibuku: I watched this game as it was played. I remember thinking at the time that Black should have tried 17...g6 to maintain the roadblock on f5 a little longer. Sure ...g6 weakens the kingside but Black was eventually forced to play it anyway. Would 17...g6 have been an improvement? ... |

Aug-13-14 Spassky vs Karpov, 1988
Mabashibuku: According to Andy Soltis, Spassky's plan was to continue with 23. Rxg6+ fg 24. Qxg6+ Kf8 25. Bxh6+ Rxh6 26. Qg8 mate. Only when 22... Rxc1 had been played on the board did he realize that 25. Bxh6+ would involve a piece that no longer existed. |

Dec-17-05 Korchnoi vs Salov, 1987
Mabashibuku: Korchnoi's 29. Ng6!? transforms a positional struggle into a wild tactical shootout with multiple passed pawns for both sides. In the end, the old master's bravado pays off against his young opponent. |
