   Apr-07-24 Nakamura vs V S Gujrathi, 2024 (replies)

Let The Wookiee Win: Looking at this game with an (admittedly old) engine, two surprises jumped out: • Nakamura actually outplayed Vidit for a few moves after the fateful 12Nc4 • At move 16, Nakamura had two ways to get a double-edged position with relative equality (~ -0.6). Any ...

Let The Wookiee Win: 28...Qe6 is probably black's best try. I had 30.Nf6 as the response. Some lines finish nicely, but black has a defense. Anyone see the defense? Black to move: [DIAGRAM]

Let The Wookiee Win: Dear Santa, I would love a premium membership.

Let The Wookiee Win: If black played 39...Re8, I would recommend 40.Qh6. That practically forces Ke7, after which I would play 41. Nf5 (if ef, then 42.Qd6#), with the idea of Nd6 to eventually win the f-pawn.

Let The Wookiee Win: 24. ...Qh4+ looks fine if you play 26... Bf2#. For some reason I had 25...Rxa2+?? though.

Let The Wookiee Win: Stockfish confirms that 34....Qc6 wins as well. Perhaps this is what black had in mind with 33...Bd7, but he then saw the checkmate with Rxf1.

   May-21-15 Matulovic vs H Hecht, 1965

Let The Wookiee Win: <devere> Good point. 38. Nc5 is much better, though I still think Black's best drawing chance is to trade minor pieces and keep the c-pawn.

Jan-05-15 Carlsen vs Nijboer, 2005 (replies)

Let The Wookiee Win: Be careful if white plays 38. Nc2. It's not wise to answer with Rxc2.
