Jan-11-18 Sax vs Huebner, 2011 (replies)

King Crusher: One of Sax's last games before his death and the only time that he ever opened with the queen's pawn.

Jan-06-18 Suba vs Sax, 1993 (replies)

King Crusher: +PhilFeeley. Sax could be quite dynamic himself.

   Jan-05-18 A Yusupov vs Portisch, 1985 (replies)

King Crusher: 18..a6? is weak and under estimates white's piece sacrifice on move 20. Instead 18..Bd6! should enable black to safeguard his king after which white has no compensation for the sacrificed pawn.

Jul-20-14 Smyslov vs Polugaevsky, 1961 (replies)

King Crusher: This game is expertly annotated by Keres in "The Art of the Middle Game".

   Jan-12-14 A Muzychuk vs Timman, 2014

King Crusher: For a player of Timman's age and status rating is unimportant. He is Jan Timman - simple as that.

   Jun-16-13 Salov vs A Beliavsky, 1991 (replies)

King Crusher: On 36...Kf8 white has no better option than to force a repetition. Salov's speculative attack succeeded only because of an outright defensive blunder on the part of his opponent. Thus I do not consider this game to be a brilliancy.

Jun-13-13 Nakamura vs Mamedyarov, 2013 (replies)

King Crusher: Most untypically lacklustre play by Nakamura walks into an attack. The weakening 19 h3? is really asking for it. Why did he avoid the critical 5Bg5?

May-28-13 Ponomariov vs Ivanchuk, 2013 (replies)

King Crusher: Poor Ivanchuk has found it hard going since the Candidates Tournament. He has been a fine player for many years, but it looks like his career is on an irretrievably downward curve.

   May-10-13 Radjabov vs J L Hammer, 2013 (replies)

King Crusher: Welcome to Super GM chess Mr Hammer. This is the level of chess in which one is crushed without making any obvious errors.

Apr-28-13 Nakamura vs Morozevich, 2013 (replies)

King Crusher: The King's Indian seems to have been suffering in recent years. Even top players like Radjabov and Topalov have struggled with it. Kasparov, of course played it regularly until Kramnik got the measure of him.
