Feb-01-15 Wei Yi vs Pichot, 2015 (replies)

JohnRed: Gotta love the pawn structure on the h-file in the final position!

   Sep-26-14 A Filipowicz vs A Tarnowski, 1962

JohnRed: White can parry the Qb6 idea with simply Rh4. Note he is one move closer to doubling rooks on the h-file while also protecting the crucial d4-square

   Aug-31-14 H Charlick vs J Mann, 1880 (replies)

JohnRed: 30. gxh6 would've been a much sweeter mate. Also I think 18. Be3 would've been interesting for black. If takes then Ng3+.. but of course white isn't oblidged to take

Aug-25-14 Nakamura vs Stockfish, 2014 (replies)

JohnRed: Interesting to see nakamura loose an endgame being a pawn up and having his enemy have all of it's pawns on dark squares and posses a dark squared bishop. Arguably should've been a draw.

   Jun-01-14 S Williams vs C Marcelin, 2014

JohnRed: I think 16 a6? is blacks critical mistake. Instead e4 immediately would've been better. The key differenece is that white wouldn't get a strong bishop on d3.

   May-06-14 R Ramondino vs O Tassi, 2014 (replies)

JohnRed: A very interesting game I think. A very complex position before timecontrol. Any ideas on who is better after move 38 QxC4? Does QxF5 work?

   Apr-29-14 H Wang vs Motylev, 2014 (replies)

JohnRed: Yes move 39 is a horrible blunder but whites position seems to be crushing. It's hard to find any constructive plan on move 39 for black. On the otherhand white can snag the a or c pawn or transfer his bishop to D5 and seal the center.

   Mar-31-14 S Wrinn vs J Dowling, 1985 (replies)

JohnRed: How about instead of 11 Bh6 white would play Bg5? The bishop is immune because of Qxg5, h6+ and mate on d5. If Nxe4 then Qe3 and a lot of complex variations to follow

   Mar-08-14 V Neverov vs C Balogh, 2014

JohnRed: Anyone else feel that white had a tremendous position which he fumbled in the end?

Dec-28-13 Kupreichik vs Suetin, 1970 (replies)

JohnRed: I think white blundered on move 33. He could've played Qxf7+ (if Kh8 then Qe8+,Kg8,Rf7+,Kh6,Rxh8,Kxh8 and hxg3 and white will be down a full rook) and if Kh6 then g5+,Kxg5, Qf6+,Kh6 and Rg1 after which white can safely take the bishop and be a full rook up.
