JoeStrummer: < HolyKnight: Walter Browne was born in Australia I believe. > Fischer was born on Mars.

JoeStrummer: I found N-g3, which I think wins also. Black can play Q-g5, but after RX N, and R x R +, white will lose his queen but play his K to g5 and force mate. Does this work?

   Mar-04-06 Robert Byrne (replies)

JoeStrummer: I always thought Byrne was a bit underated. His chess columns are great, might he have a book or two in him? I guess he doesnt he's happy just writing the chess columns.

JoeStrummer: I think she should start running, maybe do aerobics, or swim, get in shape, lose the weight. A thin, healthier player is a stronger player. Should be very interesing when the ukranian girl, the 16-year-old, starts playing in mens events, I think it might be good for chess to ...

JoeStrummer: < Hesam7 > Nice link, I've always thought the same thing as Karpov says in the video--Fischer wasn't afraid of Karpov, he was afraid of not playing perfect chess, of having nowhere to go but down. Why would Keres, a Balt, conspire with Russians against Fischer? and isn't ...

JoeStrummer: Is a dead parrot a sac exchange? I heard that at the complaints window whilst listening to the Lumberjack song.

   Feb-22-06 Bobby Fischer (replies)

JoeStrummer: Browne is the house poker player at one of the Vegas casinos.

   Feb-22-06 Viktor Korchnoi (replies)

JoeStrummer: At the other site, the Taimonov article, Taimonvov says that before the match with Fischer (the 6-0 Vancouver dusting) Botvinnik told him "play a match with an extra strong grandmaster." I think Mark should have played that training match...

   Feb-22-06 Vladimir Kramnik (replies)

JoeStrummer: Well, Karpov himself says that "...Kirsan wiped out 150 years of chess lineage..." Topalov is perhaps first among equals. Like many chess fans, I don't think you really have a true champion until the best two players play a match.

Feb-22-06 Keres vs Gligoric, 1959 (replies)

JoeStrummer: Funny how chess is. I knew that R X at g7 was the move, but didn't know why. Then the mighty discovered check shows itself...
