May-17-22 Hecht vs Suttles, 1969 (replies)

Jarman: 25. Qc3 was just awful - White should have played 25. Rb1 +-

   May-07-22 A Akshanov vs Botvinnik, 1931 (replies)

Jarman: White was basically clueless as early as the tenth move, but Botvinnik was at his ruthless best.

May-03-22 Granda Zuniga vs Karpov, 1992

Jarman: After the crushing 30. ...f5! White went downhill and never found any counterplay. Impressive.

May-01-22 Rublevsky vs Karpov, 1998 (replies)

Jarman: Karpov would have been fine both after 14. ...Be7= and after 15. ...axb5=

   Apr-19-22 Belgrade Investbank (1989)

Jarman: You have a point. But a player could dominate an event either by engaging in drawn-out affairs and wearing down opponents or by winning games with ease. Here Kasparov had to slog against Short only (he won in 103 moves) and he was able to afford three draws in 22, 48, and 61 moves.

   Apr-18-22 Lautier vs Kasparov, 1997

Jarman: Even if Kasparov saw that, it's far from certain he would have squeezed out a win - e.g. -0.35 (26 ply) 20...Rb8 21.Bc3 c5 22.b5 Rxb5 23.Kf1 Ke8 24.Ke2 Rb3 25.Kd2 Ra3 26.Kc2 Ra2+ 27.Bb2 c4 28.Kb1 Ra4 29.e5 h5 30.Rc8+ Kf7 31.Rc7 Ra5 32.exf6 gxf6 33.Kc2 e5 34.Rxc4 Ra2 35.Kb3 Ra7 36.Kc2

   Apr-17-22 A Granovskiy vs U Grochocinska, 2013 (replies)

Jarman: White should have played 52.g8=Q b2+ 53.Kd2 Bxf5 54.Qf7+ Kh4 55.Qxf5 b1=Q 56.Qxb1 e4 57.Qxe4+ Kg5 58.Qf5+ Kh4 59.Ke3 Kg3 60.Qg6+ Kh2 61.Kf3 a2 62.Qg2# Not impressed by all that Knight dancing.

   Apr-15-22 M Kobalia vs Karpov, 2021

Jarman: 21. ...d5 would have been enough to equalize. Ouch.

   Apr-10-22 Beliavsky vs Indjic, 2022

Jarman: Beliavsky seems to go astray with 13. b3 as 13. Nc3 would have given him an equal game.

   Feb-16-18 Karpov vs Y Hou, 2018 (replies)

Jarman: In a winning position, Karpov lost the thread (and the game) with 40. Ke1. According to Stockfish he should have played 40.Kg2 Bxg3 41.Nxg3 Qh4 42.Qf2 Rb8 43.Kh2 Ke8 44.Ra2 Rxb3 45.Nxf5 Qxf2+ 46.Rxf2 Rg6 47.Ra2 Kd8 48.Bg2 Rc3 49.Ra8+ Kc7 50.Ra7+ Kd8 51.Bxe4 Rxc4 52.Bd3 Rb4 53.Ne7 ...
