Apr-29-15 Kasparov vs Short (Blitz) (2015) (replies)

JamTin: If Short's comments were true, that on both days he had not been able to sleep since 2.30-3am, then we have to accept that is likely to have had some impact on his play. Not sure how Kasparov's schedule compared. I am sure Kasparov would have had a clear triumph in any case. If I was

   Nov-18-12 Nigel Short (replies)

JamTin: I don't know if he is commentating, but he is playing a couple of simuls.

   Feb-03-12 Gibraltar Masters (2012) (replies)

JamTin: Completely disagree with the concept that TPR should be used as a tie breaker rather than tie break games. Ratings should have no place in attributing the result IMO. Fact is having played 10 games Short and Hou had the same scores. Hou had played a slightly stronger field, so what?!

JamTin: <ray keene> do you mind if I ask a question about your Times column? I must say that I find your comments on chess on this board really insightful and entertaining, more than those you commit to paper. I understand of course that the column is for a more mainstream audience and

   Jan-01-10 Deep Sjeng vs micro-Max, 2007 (replies)

JamTin: Presumably writing code that would check to see whether it was worth playing on or a resignation position would add a few extra characters, so to keep the code as efficient as possible it would make sense for micro-max to not bother checking and always play to the end.

JamTin: I'd love to see more top class human v computer action. I think it would be fascinating to see.

   Sep-21-09 Short - Efimenko Match (2009) (replies)

JamTin: <vonKrolock> true. when I described 52 Re2 as a blunder I'd just seen that it lost immediately and hadn't appreciated just how helpless white was by then anyway.

Sep-21-09 Efimenko vs Short, 2009 (replies)

JamTin: 37 .. f6? doesn't that lose to something like 38 ef+ Kxf6 (or Kf7) 39 Qg6+ ?

   Sep-03-09 Short vs P Kostenko, 2009 (replies)

JamTin: I'm not sure what goes on with the live game feeds sometimes, but when I logged on to the tournament site yesterday it was showing Nigel as having just played 11 Qd4 attacking the rook but placing the queen en prise to the bishop! It was corrected after an anxious couple of minutes!
