   Nov-01-11 O Rodriguez Vargas vs Rublevsky, 1992

DAL9000: Boy, there are a lot of tactical themes at work here.

   Feb-12-08 E Walther vs Fischer, 1959 (replies)

DAL9000: Wait, so how does 31. Rg3 not win for White? What I'm looking at is: 31. Rg3 Bf8 32. Qf6!, (32... Be7 33. Qxh8 Rxh8 34. Rg8+). Am I missing something here?

   Jul-08-06 R Lallemand vs M Lomineishvili, 2005 (replies)

DAL9000: I actually thought the answer was 27. Qg5+ Kf8 28. Nf5 f6 (28... exf5 29. Qh6+ Ke7 30. Qxd6#) 29. Qh6+ Kf7 30. Qxh7+ picking up the Queen, but, uh... I guess the forced checkmate in the game is a slightly better outcome, huh?

   Jul-01-06 Polugaevsky vs R Nezhmetdinov, 1958 (replies)

DAL9000: This is actually the first game I ever commented on, 'round about a year ago. I've come a long way since then, albeit not nearly long enough to understand what's going on in this game. I did spend a while playing through it again, though, and this time around I realized something I ...

May-07-06 Ljubojevic vs Miles, 1980 (replies)

DAL9000: <Why not 24. Bxg5? Because of Ng6 moron.> More precisely, because of Re5: 24. Bxg5 Ng6 25. Qh5 Re5.

May-02-06 Kupreichik vs Lutikov, 1970 (replies)

DAL9000: Why 8... h5 instead of 8... Bxf3 and /then/ ... h5 after the recapture?

   Apr-25-06 F Vallejo Pons vs Bacrot, 1994

DAL9000: 49. g4! is a nice save.

   Apr-24-06 Areshchenko vs P Tregubov, 2005

DAL9000: Is 18... Bxb4 an improvement? I don't think White wants to exchange that Bishop off (something like 19. Bd2 Bxd2 20. Qxb7 0-0 looks OK for Black), so how /does/ White proceed?

   Apr-21-06 Bacrot vs S Guliev, 1994 (replies)

DAL9000: 13. Bd3 is either unbelievably brilliant or incredibly stupid, and I have no idea which. It worked, though, so I guess that makes it brilliant.

   Apr-21-06 Jean-Rene Koch (replies)

DAL9000: IM Jean-Rene Koch, b. 1970. A member of the French Olympiad team in 1992. Also known to be fond of the Benko Gambit... /carnally/.
