Castle In The Sky
Member since Nov-27-04 · Last seen Mar-19-17
I live in Iowa, and play a good mediocre game of chess, but admire greatness from afar. Some of my favorite players are Tal, Nimzowitch, Lasker, Emory Tate, Judit Polgar, Kramnik (for his precision) and Kasparov. As I just turned 40, I have become more involved with encouraging younger folk to play this wonderful game, while never giving up on self-improvement. Long live the goddess Caissa!

Castle In The Sky: Topalov's interview in the Spanish is absolutely outlandish. International chess should ostracize him and refuse to allow him to play in any professional tournaments until he retracts his defamatory statements against Kramnik. Kramnik should sue Topalov for every greasy ...

Castle In The Sky: <Acirce> thanks for the Dec 8 article links. I found the accounts fascinating. It seems that chicanery and international chess is never ending and timeless--i.e, Topalov v. Kramnik. I have a great admiration for Bronstein and have read his (and Vainstein's) ...

Castle In The Sky: A beautiful tactical ending.

Castle In The Sky: You must remember this A kiss is just a kiss, a sigh is just a sigh. The fundamental things apply As time goes by.-Casablanca (game of the day?)

Castle In The Sky: White made too major mistakes: 1)White never played an early prophylactic Kb1, which would have kept the a file close 2) 21. cxb5. this trade opened up the queenside for black and left white's king unproctected, as all of its pieces were focused on a kingside attack. ...

Castle In The Sky: I am considering purchasing one of the major chess databases: Chessbase 9 or ChessAssistant-Does anyone own one of these and could they share their opinions about them? Thanks.

Castle In The Sky: Eric, I wish you the best in recovering from your stroke. I had a question on Chessbase vs. ChessAssistant. I have finally reached a level of mediocrity where one of these programs could be useful, we'll say upper C lower B class USCF, depending upon how much moisture ...

   Nov-14-06 Karjakin vs I Rogers, 2003

Castle In The Sky: 25.f4! is a great move, it breaks black's lock on the center and forces him to triple his pawns.

Castle In The Sky: <Lt. Col. Majid> I agree, he has a presence which fills the rooms. Certainly, the kids look up to him.

Castle In The Sky: Truly a poisoned pawn.
