I am a fighting New Jersian who loves to play tactical games. I love turning things into the unknown from the first moves of the game. I am rated 2102 and my ultimate goal is to become a national master. People at my chess club are so helpful and supportive of everyone else it is a really nice place to play and learn and have fun. Im a 16 year old incoming senior. My favorite chess player is capablanca (obviously) and my favorite openings are the caro kann and paulsen sicilian against e4 and the queens and nimzo and slav against d4. I play e4 most of the time and only mix it up on occasion. I love chessgames.com and come here every day. It has really improved my chess game. FOr that i am grateful.

Capafan9: I prefer the reformed cunningham here. we have a player at my club who plays the kings gambit with a fair amount of sucess and i havent gotten a chance to play a line with him but im going to choose this one. The reformed puts a nf6 in before anything else. the main line goes 1 e4 ...

Capafan9: Personally I have always liked the black side of this opening, and i do play the trompowski on a rare occasion. I really dont like the Nc3 move first because it blocks the c-pawn. In my opinion this is a worse form of the trompowski because whites options are far less numerous ...

Capafan9: i need someone to recommend a book for me please. I dont know if there is one out there like this but if anyone knows one id appreciate some help. I am looking for an endgame book full of common endgame positions and fortresses sort of like what the computer's tablebases are.(not ...

Capafan9: <percyblakeney> 32 f3!? would have been a good move for the win 32. f3!? Nxd2 33. fxg4 Ne4 and white is up a clear exchange but black has shots at the h4 pawn as well as pestering checks at f2 so i think that would end up as a tough endgame for white to score the full point ...

   Jul-07-05 Chigorin vs J Mortimer, 1900 (replies)

Capafan9: This game was certainly very difficult to understand. The first move of many that made my jaw drop was 14 Ne5!. Letting black win the white queen for a rook and piece. Because if 15 Bxe2 Ne4+ wins. But i wonder if 12 ... Ne4+ would have served black better. Then 13. Bxe4 Rxe4 14. ...

Capafan9: <your brilliance> if 26..Rg1 then Nf4+ Kh2 Qf6 and if Rxg8 then Qxh4+ Kg1 Nh3+ 1)Kh1 Ng5+ Kg1 (Kg2 is same) Qg4+ Kf1 (Kh1 Qh3+ Kg1 Nf3 mate) Qh3+ Ke2 (otherwise Nf3 mate) Qd3 mate 2)Kh2 Ng5+ Kg1 (if Kg2 also mate quickly) Qg4+ and it becomes the same as the last line. But Rg1
