42eyes: Is the board a piece? Ei when you'retaught chess you are told how the knight moves etc but the board is glanced over.

   Dec-10-14 I Krush vs W Ju, 2014 (replies)

42eyes: Nice to see a game end in checkmate. Doubt Irina overlooked it, probably just being a good sport.

Dec-02-14 Queen's Gambit Declined, Orthodox, Rubinstein Attack, Main line (D65)

42eyes: <plang> Either way I care not, nor for its reputation of being slow or boring. I'm currently working through Matthew Sadler's book Queens Gambit Declined and very much enjoying it. :)

Nov-23-14 Carlsen vs Anand, 2014 (replies)

42eyes: Could it be that Anand lost the battle but won the war? Ie I'm not really a fan of either player but i can't help but admire Anands comeback and tenacity.

42eyes: What is up with FIDE? I've recently decided to follow womens chess. The WWCC being postponed, potentially cancelled has put me off. I'll persevere though.

42eyes: <plang> Armeggedon chess? Thats partly what gave me the idea.

   Sep-14-14 Wenjun Ju (replies)

42eyes: Apparently she'll be a GM soon. Interview & great pics... http://en.chessbase.com/post/sharja...

Sep-09-14 Botvinnik vs Petrosian, 1963 (replies)

42eyes: After reading about Botvinnik's & Petrosian's playing styles this is exactly what I expected. Many pieces on the board, endless positioning, some moves unfathomable (at least for me), then an sudden avalanche to a decisive end.

Sep-08-14 FIDE Women's Grand Prix Sharjah (2014) (replies)

42eyes: <waustad> Thanks! I did try looking up 'tie break' on wiki but I didn't find that article. It's helpful...& interesting.
