the obvious 8.f3 (but NOT 8.a3?!, for 8...Bxc3 9.bxc3 fxe4 loses the exchange) would have equalized the pressure on the e4 pawn. Poor Knott was on his heels almost from the outset. Definitely a fun game to watch. |
