   Mar-05-09 Linares (2009) (replies)

Gnappo: <muradov: Is Radja offering a pawn for development or am I missing something? > yes. The point is that if Black accepts the pawn, his Queen will have some troubles for some moves. For example, 13...Qxc3 14.Bd2 Qc2 15.Bd3 Qc5 16.Rac1 Qd5 17.Rfd1 centralizing his Rooks: it seems ...

Feb-26-09 Topalov - Kamsky Candidates Final (2009) (replies)

Gnappo: human drama... Kamsky is desperate. He must resign... and this costs him a lot. However, both players played with bravery and we should thank 'em. Bravo Topa, bravo (a little less) Kamsky.

   Jan-09-09 K Lie vs Carlsen, 2009 (replies)

Gnappo: Beautiful 17...c4, opening the a7-g1 diagonal; then Bc5, Ng4 and Ndf6 are beautiful placement against the White 0-0... Maybe 21.e3?! is the weakest chance for White, and of course 22.Qc2 is ugly because of the exposition at the Knight fork in e3. Maybe a way to resist was 21.Nd1 Rb8 ...

   Jan-09-09 Nakamura vs K Lie, 2009 (replies)

Gnappo: Okay, now I'll share my opinion with you. After 24...b5 I thought that Black is better, the initiative of White is not enough to compensate te 2 pawns. But Nakamura started to play noisy moves, penetrating the opponent's position: Bishop in e6, h pawn pushed to open the file, Queen

Oct-15-08 Anand - Kramnik World Championship Match (2008) (replies)

Gnappo: finally a bit of complication in evaluating this position.... the more ambitious is probabilly 19.Be7 (maybe 19...Rde8 20.Bg5 Qc5 is the simpliest way to proceed). But what about the complicated 19...Nc5 ? I don't think Kramnik can play it, but it's interesting (the threat is ...

   Aug-27-08 Kramnik vs E Alekseev, 2008 (replies)

Gnappo: I think this is a nice win by Kramnik. He decided to play positionally at a certain point. I liked his way to put into play the 2 Rooks and the 2 Knights against the h6 pawn. Of course Rb7 is a mistake, but other moves don't leave Alekseev in a good situation.

Aug-04-08 Sochi Grand Prix (2008) (replies)

Gnappo: what a blunder by Chepa!!! 33...c5 was the only one.

Jul-31-08 41st Biel International Chess Festival (2008) (replies)

Gnappo: wow... now alekseev is a pawn up?

   Jul-04-08 Dortmund Sparkassen (2008) (replies)

Gnappo: Very bad play by Van Wely. 14.Be2 is horrible. But even 14.Qa3 Nc7 15.Qxa7 Qa6 16.Qxa6+ Nxa6 is not a good position. So, something went wrong during the opening.

   May-14-08 A Bryn vs H R Steel, 2008 (replies)

Gnappo: Beautiful minature. I post my thoughts about it. 10...d5!? <Poisoned push, after following semplifications White gains a pawn but must bring the Queen in an unconfortable position. Black has more than 200 ELO points of difference between White, maybe he wanted to force the ...
