Alexander Aird Thomson, Born: 20 Feb 1917, Glasgow. Died: May/June 1991 Mortlake. Played in the Olympiads of 1956, 1958 and 1964. Scottish Champion 1951. Worked in the book trade all his life. Moved to London 1954 to work at Foyles, and then, in 1982, at Waterstones. Obit in BCM 1991, July, p 320. Was found dead in his flat on 5 June after neighbours had not seen him for some weeks. His mother was Mrs FF Thomson, six times Scottish Ladies' Champion.
