  GrahamClayton: Adele Raettig (b. Sep 22, 1889; d August 1972). Longtime resident of Hoboken, NJ and competitor in the 1939 US Women's Championship. Raettig was also the only female competitor in the 1936 US Championship.

She may have been in the preliminaries, but she wasn't in the championship itself.

Jan-23-21  Petrosianic: According to Chess Review, Raettig specialized in "weird" openings. Of course, when they wrote it, in 1951, The King's Indian was weird, so who knows?
