It might be better to keep the tension in the position and save the b5-lever for later.

So after <17.Qf3> the move 18.b5 would threaten. This could be countered by either <17...0-0-0> or <17...a6>.

Here it comes: <18.Rfc1> is a good move on 17...a6, but not after 17...0-0-0.

Maybe someone else here would like to continue...

  saffuna: From analysis I have read Abdusattorov had to work out a long and complex variation in case van Foreest had played 34. Rfa4.
