NMABQjmgChess: Was able to find the concluding move for White for once.
Jun-03-24  King.Arthur.Brazil: Direct: Rg3 click! Mondays....
Jun-03-24  TheaN: Small nuance in this Monday puzzle, obviously White is winning after 22.♖g3. However, it looks like Black is getting ♖♗ : ♕ after 22....♕xg3 (♗xh3 23.♕xg5+ with ♕xg3 +-) which could complicate matters. This is not the case as after 23.fxg3 Black has no time saving the Bishop: after 23....♗e7 24.♔f2 +- Black wil have to play Bh4 anyway to prevent Rh1 and Qh8#.
Jun-03-24  TheaN: And perhaps worth of note that after 22....f6 23.♕xh4! +-. Rxg5 is significantly worse.
Jun-03-24  mel gibson: I saw that straight away -

it's almost a funny position. LOL.

Jun-03-24  saturn2: Black is up a piece After 22. Rg3 and Qxg3 (Bxg3 worse) 23.fxg3 Be7 white starts a mating attack

chrisowen: I uv blocked its whims its q jut pen its y c Rg3 fib ie its arrived odd bud its hoh x Rg3 butch?
Jun-03-24  TheaN: Was actually wondering how Black could botch an Anglo-Indian this quickly, as the opening is known as quite solid for both colors.

First crack is 10....Be7, whilst developing is logical allowing the doubled e-pawns is ill-advised, 10....Nxf3+ 11.Qxf3 Be7= is relatively simple, yet toothless. SF follows the game line till 14.h4: this is a small mistake as 14....Kh8 ⩱ is slightly better for Black.

However, Smirnov immediately errs with 15....h6?! (Be7 ⩱) and 16....Bc8? (Kg8 ⩲, as 17.Bxh6? gxh6 18.Qxh6 Bg7 -+) from which he no longer recovers: up till 18.Bxh6 it's +1.8ish if 18....Kg8. Black chose the risky way out with 18....gxh6 and that is the nail in the coffin after the game line: I assume he missed the Rg3 combination in the end.

Jun-03-24  Damenlaeuferbauer: After long pondering, the Ukrainian then IM, but now strong GM Anton Korobov finally found the very nice move 22.Rg3!,f6 (22.-,Bxg3 23.Qxg5+ +-) 23.Qxh4 +-. I love Mondays!
Jun-03-24  Hercdon: Nice and easy just like a Monday should be

scormus: <TheaN> Good comments, as usual.

<Was actually wondering how Black could botch ...> Yes, quite likely missed 22 Rg3 from a few moves ahead. However, I'd say he was having a thoroughly bad day at the office. 15 ... h6 and 16 ... Bc8 might not have been fatal, but they didn't look right. 18 ... gxh6 looked really bad, and was.
