Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-14-22  Flemming: Romanishin - as Tal - was hard workerm and capable of find moves that only decades later were ruleda s the best of the best by most modern engines. (No wonder that Romanishin was heavily pursued by Soviet state team in order to support their champion...) Here he found that 7. ...Be6 is the best (not 7. ...c6, for example). White stumbled as early as in 9th move. 9. e4? Now 8. ...Ng4 was the best, but Romanishin was already tired (he had spent 1 h 12 min for the first 8 moves). 11... Nxf6!! was brilliant. Pf2 cannot be defended anymore and white is "strategically lost" after 12 moves.

Oleg played plenty of opens that year, with "the mixed results", he wasn't better in Ukrainian championship either (but he eliminated Ivanchuk in Round 2!! which was comforting a bit, I think), where 18-year old Volokitin won the silver cup.

However, Romanishin won this little open with impeccable style, like it was year 1975!
