Feb-13-22  Brenin: 21 ... Nxe4 22 fxe4 (22 Nxd4 cxd4 23 fxe4 Qxc4 24 Qxd4 Rxc4 looks good for Black) Qe5 (better than 22 ... Rfe8 23 Bd5, and threatening both Bxe4+ and Qxf5) 23 Bd5 Bxd5 24 exd5 Qxd5+ with a strong attack for Black.
Feb-13-22  mel gibson: I didn't get the right answer.

Stockfish 14 agrees with the text but
it's only a small advantage of 2 points:

21... Nxe4

(21. .. score for Black +2.28 depth 42.

Feb-13-22  raymondhow: Surprised myself choosing the first four moves, then wanted to play 25...b3 to harass the white queen. The engine says that's worth a 2 point advantage, whereas the text 25...Qf3 is worth a 3 point advantage. I'm inclined to give myself half credit.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Ahhh, back to the usual nice normal 5/7, flubbed the weekend, week. Saw the sacrifice but rejected it because it looked unsound.

Breunor: Me too, way too tough.
Feb-13-22  nalinw: Yes difficult as always for a Sunday - but the threats after .... Qe5 are fairly obvious in hindsight - I feel bad that I didnt see anything after ... Nxe4
Feb-13-22  AlicesKnight: I saw the idea was to blast open the h1-a8 diagonal but was at a loss how to do it effectively. It looekd as if White could exchange down the threat but Black kept finding new ones.
Feb-13-22  saturn2: The first two moves getting two pawns for the knight plus an exposed king under a diagonal attack - thats what came as an idea. But I could not see the win.
Feb-13-22  whiteshark: What did you get from the game, <♖a1> and <♘a4>? Worth a piece.
Feb-13-22  Nosnibor: I initially toyed with the idea of 21...Ne5 with the threat of 22...Nxf3 but the game line is stronger.

Feb-13-22  Cheapo by the Dozen: The first few moves are pretty easy to see, including that White's only hope is 25 Kh3. So I decided to go with that on Spielmannesque faith.

Once I got to the Move 25 position, I did not find the game line. Fortunately, my alternative of 25 ... b3, continuing the attack against the f5 knight, seems plenty good enough as an alternative.

Feb-13-22  1stboard: I got the first move 21 Nxe4 but could not find the continuation. Must admit black's move 29 Ng4 ( ! ) was a really nice move. As < OhioChessFan > said - Wow. Out of my pay grade.
Feb-13-22  BoardCrawler: Why does white not play 32. Qxf5?
Feb-13-22  agb2002: White threatens Nxd4.

The bishop on b7 x-rays the white king and could fork White's royal family from e4. This suggests 21... Nxe4. However, after 22.fxe4 Qe5 23.Bd5 (23.Nxd4 Bxe4+ wins decisive material; 23.Re1 Qxf5 wins an important pawn with the better position) 23... Bxd5 24.exd5 Qxd5+ 25.Kh3 (25.Kf1 Qf3+ 26.Ke1 Rhe8+ wins) the position is unclear (25... b3 26.Qd3 Qe6 -26... Qd7 Nb6- 27.g4).

I don't know. I'd probably play 21... Rfe8, preparing Nxe4.

scormus: I think this is payback for last Sunday.

I wondered if it might be 21 .... Nxe4, if only because it's a puzzle, but I had no expectation about fnding a way to win from it.

If I had to play the position I'd go with <agb2002> idea

Feb-13-22  yrotciv: 21...Nxe4 22. fxe4 Qe5 23. Re1 seems better for white. His rook is not on an open file, but it seems like the defenses are better here
