  K Any: 38...Bf3?? Time scramble.
Jul-05-24  FM David H. Levin: <K Any: 38...Bf3?? Time scramble.>

The time limit was game/15 with a 10-second increment. Still, I agree that 38...Bxf3 doesn't make sense, and I'd have expected White to exchange queens before taking the e-pawn (so as to avoid ...Qxf3). There are also other inexplicable moves later, as well as Black's failure to resign well before move 49.

If the moves 38. Qxf5 gxf5 are inserted and the rest of the score is incremented, we obtain 38. Qxf5 gxf5 39. Rxe5 Bxf3 40. Rxf5 Bb7 41. Rf4 Rd7 42. Nd3 Nb8 43. Nc5 d3 44. Nxd7 d2 45. Rff1 dxc1=Q 46. Rxc1 Nxd7 47. Rxc3 Bd5 48. Rc7 Be6 49. Rxa7 Bc4 50. Rc7, which makes a lot more sense. I'd also be surprised if Black didn't resign after 49. Rxa7, being that the two moves after that are nonsensical.

I'm about to submit a correction slip. Thank you for mentioning this (as well as for having pointed out anomalies in other game scores).
