<A friendly match at chess, consisting of three games, was played at the Arsenal in Dearborn, commencing on Thursday evening last, and continuing through Friday, between Harsen D. Smith of this city and Capt. O. E. Michaelis, of Dearborn, the winners of the two prizes at the late chess tournament. A little misunderstanding existed between the two gentlemen at the close of the tournament, respecting the first prize, Mr. Smith thinking he was entitled to play with Mr. Michaelis before the prizes were awarded, but the matter was amicably settled by Mr. Smith's withdrawing his claim, and the first prize was duly awarded to Capt. Mchaelis and the second to Mr. Smith, it being understood that a friendly match would be arranged between the two players at an early date, when their respective skill could be tested.

The three games occupied about eleven hours in play, Mr. Smith winning the first game, Capt. Michaelis resigning at the 50th move—the other two games were both drawn. The first of the two was played down to king and pawn on the side of Mr. Smith against king the side of Capt. Michaelis, and the last game was called drawn at the 48th move, with a bishop and two pawns on each side.>
