MissScarlett: Jersey Weekly Press & Independent, 11th February 1899, p.2:

<We publish to-day a game played between Mr. Emmanuel [sic] Lasker, the world's champion player, and Mr. George W. Dolbel, of Stoke-on-Trent, a strong amateur, the quality of whose play is not altogether unknown in this Island. The game is one of thirty played simultaneously at Hanley by the great master, the play gathering being in connection with the North Staffordshire Chess League. Mr. Lasker won 24 games, drew 2 and 4 were left unfinished. The game before us was lost by Mr. Dolbel, but, as will be seen by the diagram and on playing the game through, the result should certainly have been a draw, as the best moves for White could only have led to a perpetual check on his part had Black played carefully at move 24. But, with only two minutes to closing time and as we may presume he was somewhat tired, the amateur tripped on move 27 and with such a formidable opponent as Mr. Lasker, one has not much chance to rectify a slip and Mr. Dolbel wisely resigned the game.>
