Honza Cervenka: This game started as Alekhine Defense but then via Pirc it transposed into regular Closed Sicilian. Hoen played the game very well and reached objectively winning position but in tactically complex situation he missed a win at first, and then he erred again allowing Hort to turn the table. 30.Bxc6 Qxc6 31.f5 e5 32.Na5 Qe4 33.Nf2 +- and 31.Bxc6 Qxc6 32.Ndxc5 Nxc5 33.Bxc5 +- were winning material with decisive advantage, 32.Bxg7+? was a losing mistake, 32.Rxh7+ Kg8 33.axb3 Bxd4+ 34.Nf2 would have held the game equal. I am not sure, whether the game ended by white's resignation or by his exceeding of time limit (I would guess that this was the case) but anyway white is objectivelly lost in the final position.
Mar-14-25  FM David H. Levin: The position after 9. d3 is given in ECO Vol. B (2nd ed., 1984) as transposing to section B25, note 20. I'm about to submit a correction slip.
