An Englishman: Good Afternoon: Rook and 4 Pawns vs. Queen. Good luck trying to make sense of this one without resorting to the silicon monsters.
Jun-30-19  Jamboree: This could have been Aronian's Immortal if he had seen and played 27. ... R8d3!

The queen need to keep d1 protected, otherwise 28. ...Rd1+ wins. So white is forced to play 28. Qg4 or 28. Qh5, after which black just goes 28. ...a4 and the pawn coasts down the board to easy victory.

19. ... Nxd4!! and 22. .... c3! and 23. .... Rxd2! and 24.,,, cxb2!! were all brilliancies. Too bad he didn't find the final coup de grace. Would have gone down in history as a great game.

A couple of moves earlier, 25...Be2 [fill in the exclamation marks] would have been an even better shot at immortality.

MissScarlett: Pretty game, but hardly complex enough to pretend to greatness.
