Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-07-17  Mendrys: 11. Bxf4?? Ouch, that's just the type of mistake I could easily make and just ask myself "what was I thinking?, the reply is so obvious!"

Such a blunder is usually a result of focusing too much on a particular weakness, the pawn on h6 would be a likely candidate given the choice of taking the pawn on f4 instead of making the move 11. h4 instead.

Apr-07-17  protonchess: @Mendrys: huh? 11. h4 leaves the Bishop en prize to the Black Pawn. White had no choice but 10. fxg5 which Black would clearly answer with 10. .. Ne5.

I meant to have said 11. Bh4 instead which would have been better than the text move. He may have intended to sac his bishop for 2 pawns but it wasn't necessary.

Apr-08-17  protonchess: Ah, you're right Bh4 is worth a look. I think Black would play 11. .. Ne5 12. Qxf4 Ng6.
