Penguincw: Ooh, the game everyone has been waiting for. How will one of the best players of all time (retired) do against one of the best blitz players?
Apr-28-16  bobthebob: For blitz, what is the official rule with regard to moving a piece, taking your hand off, not hitting the clock and then moving that piece to a different square?

(move 26)

I guess it is not a rated event, but there is money involved.

Apr-28-16  SirRuthless: Kasparov broke the rule but Nakamura let it go because he isn't as much of a dilweed as people claim.

MissScarlett: That's the generous interpretation. More likely is that he's scared of Kasparov.

Dionysius1: I wish top GMs would NEVER take moves back. It's hard enough to get my club colleagues to accept "touch it move it" and "your hand's off, the move's over" without the idols setting a bad example. Darn it, it's a matter of integrity and honour, and honourably is how I like to see chess being played.

played 26...Nb4. His hand leaves the piece for a split second then notices the Bishop fork 27.Bc5 and instead moves the Knight to f5.

Protecting the Knight and slipping out of the fork with 27...Rb8 fails to 28.Bxb4 and 29.Rc8+ which wins the g7 Bishop.

Nakamura appears to look over Gary's shoulder and then carried on as if nothing had happened. Did he get signal from an arbiter that it was OK as Gary had not yet pressed his clock.

Were they playing touch clock which is what some places do.
