Honza Cervenka: In symmetrical or almost symmetrical positions quite often the player on turn has the upper hand. Koneru played this game with great energy and tactical prowess, and won very convincingly. Instead of 40.Nh6, which was sufficient and very elegant, it was possible to play also 40.Rd3 with next 41.Ne3, which seems to be even better than the text continuation, as it wins the Exchange without mass trade of Pawns but the ending R+P(f) vs B+P(h), which occurred in the game, was still won for white.

Btw, the position with d-file completely occupied by pieces and Pawn(s) between moves 16 and 18 is quite picturesque.
