Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-01-15  siggemannen: always painful to see chameleon slav to get killed like this (i play it myself as black)
Feb-01-15  paavoh: Hejsan <siggemannen>, what are your favorite games in this line? My interest has raised a bit, so I could use any advice from more experienced players.

Here, I think (w/o engine) Black should've played 25.-Re8 in order to limit the damage and maybe to salvage a playable end game. Also, I expected some preventive action on the king side too, as those doubled pawns on e and f files are very tricky. a6-a5-a4 itself is fine, but requires balance, don't you think?

Feb-02-15  catlover: Nice win. Felicidades, Paco.
Feb-24-15  siggemannen: <paavoh>, sorry for late answer. I think my love for it started with this game: Ponomariov vs Wang Hao, 2007

Kamsky also had a lot of nice games in this line.

In this game i think black should've castled sooner instead of horsing around with his, well, horses :)

Feb-24-15  nummerzwei: I had the position after move 9 two years ago.

When I analyzed the game, I came to the conclusion that both 10.Nxd5 cxd5 11.Qxd5 Ra7 12.b4

and 10.e4 (my original intention)

were more powerful, rendering the stereotyped 8...e5 near-suicidal.
