HeMateMe: Isn't it strange how white won this game, when his Bishop was blocked in most of the game? Black really made a hash of it.
Oct-21-14  Pulo y Gata: This is a topical line in the Tarrasch and White has excellent control of the central dark squares. The bishop at f1 was not really imprisoned and white was just preparing the e4 push.

10. Na4 11. Be3 was advocated by GM Avrukh in one of his books.

Oct-28-14  Shams: <Pulo y Gata> It's a good line but White must be prepared to deal with the dangerous 9...d4!?

perfidious: <Shams> During my career, I had three games that I recall in 9....d4 (two as White) and managed one fortuitous win against the move.

For more thoughts on 9....d4 and the whole Tarrasch mess, see the following comment to Karpov vs Kasparov, 1984

Oct-28-14  Shams: <perfidious> I'd be keen to look at that game against Hergott, as well as the other two. If you find the PGN you should post it on my forum.

I know Schiller and others have laid 9...d4 beneath the cold hard ground but as a Club Player for Life I still have a healthy respect for it.

perfidious: <Shams> If I had any of the eight missing game scores (as two were evidently posted here by someone else), I would submit them to CG, but I lost all of them soon after the event. My first-round loss to Farago in Toronto was published in Players Chess News at the time, but I have never been able to track down the collection containing that game (#6379).
