Richard Taylor: <Benzol> Yes, it was a one off. Caught him napping in 2 minute stoush! On there and ICC I played a few GMs. I cant recall what time control but I had a game against Andersson and one against Seirawan while waiting to see some GM encounter: took me by surprise when I was challenged.

Also on WCN I managed a draw with Susan Polgar in the 2 minute challenge. It's not a simul but they play one after another so they probably get quite tired.

Did you see that Sue Maroroa got a GM norm? She beat Hebden in a British team match (or some event like that). I must load my games against her: I never lost a game to her although it was often close. She was (and no doubt is) pretty aggressive unlike some of the other women players. Mind you it helps being married to your GM coach!

I met Jones a few times and he was a very nice fellow. It was good he played in some NZ tourneys (for Sue and NZ Chess!).

Richard Taylor: By the way I think there was a defence to my sac on f7 but it is hard to find in that time control! I couldn't resist Nxf7!

Richard Taylor: Komodo finds 20. Qxe6 is better and leads to a big winning advantage to White. Strange I took with the B. But White is winning in any case. Typical blitz game but good fun.
Jul-20-14  tranquilsimplicity: <Richard Taylor> Very nice..very nice Richard (by the way I am also Richard..trivia). I once used to play the Bird's Opening and used a book by GM Danielsen. You caught him out red-handed (trying to escape from d6)!

Well done!

Richard Taylor: <tranquilsimplicity:> Thanks! Obviously it was a one off, but such is blitz chess! I also played Seirawan and Ulf Anderson while they were waiting to watch an international tourney. They both duly beat me.

Today I played over a great game by Ulf Anderson where he beat Karpov by breaking out from a Maroczy Bind with d5 and initiating a great attack.
