FSR: So why does no one else play 11...b5! in this position? Opening Explorer It looks like 11.Rc1 is a mistake; 11.Qd2 is much more common. Opening Explorer After 11.Qd2!, White's pawn on a2 is still guarded by the rook, so 11...b5? would just drop a pawn.

FSR: 3.c3! (rather than 3.c4) is the best move against the O'Kelly. Then if Black plays 3...d5 4.exd5 Qxd5, he's playing the second-best response to the Alapin Sicilian (2...Nf6 scores better than 2...d5) <and> has thrown in the not-so-useful move ...a6. Probably Black's best after 3.c3 is 3...e6(!) 4.d4 d5, as Nakamura has played, which scores OK for Black. But not too many Sicilian players want to play the French.

FSR: 3.c3! scores way better (almost 61%) than any of White's other main responses to 2...a6. Opening Explorer
