Jan-28-13 | | kevin86: I like the chase scene of queen and king. |
Jan-28-13
 | | FSR: Someone pointed out that Larsen once played a similarly weird-looking but strong piece-hanging interposition (a bishop there) in Taimanov vs Larsen, 1970. |
Jan-28-13 | | RookFile: I love the movie, Das Boot - easily the greatest submarine movie ever made. |
Jan-28-13
 | | HeMateMe: ...not better than the Hunt for Red October. Maybe as good as the Denzel Washington movie where a mutiny takes place on a nuclear submarine. |
Jan-28-13 | | BEDRICH: weak pun, yes |
Jan-28-13
 | | HeMateMe: Crimson Tide, terrific submarine drama, with Denzel and Gene Hackman. Das Boot was also great. |
Jan-28-13 | | ZZpatzer: Debashis' Deadly Debacle...17. Nxe4 |
Jan-28-13 | | Shams: "Run Silent, Run Deep" is also a classic submarine film. Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052151/ |
Jan-28-13 | | David2009: Fifteen consecutive distinct checks! Respect! |
Jan-28-13
 | | Penguincw: I counted 16 consecutive checks. |
Jan-28-13 | | talsqueen: Das never manages to get a hold on matters. Is dictated, pushed and beaten. Anyway. I think 7. g4 is the first sign of the brutal assault to follow. and after Das castles on his king's side, it becomes easier to bombard his fort. |
Jan-29-13 | | RookFile: Hunt for Red October and Crimson Tide were both very good. Maybe we have a different order for 1,2,3 but they're all good. Cheers. |
Jan-29-13 | | Jim Bartle: What about "Operation Petticoat"? |
Jan-29-13
 | | HeMateMe: Uh oh...JB is heading into Kelsey Grammer/Phil Silvers territory, here. |
Jan-29-13 | | Jim Bartle: Cary Grant and Tony Curtis. |
Jan-29-13 | | vinidivici: For me the pun is good.
Yes it was taken from the classic German movie and that is good film BUT prepare your physical condition to watch it because its a long movie ( i forget 3 and 1/2 or 4 hours). But it deserves to watch "Das Boot" means "That Boat" in English. |
Jan-29-13 | | vinidivici: <shams>
<"Run Silent, Run Deep" is also a classic submarine film. Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0052151/>
Im an avid of the classical movies. And im trying to follow your suggestion and buying the movie online and now downloading it now. And these are the old movies i have watched and good, some bad e.g. I dont like Pink FLamingos (1972) or The Images (1975). These are good:
Steve McQueen
1. The towering Inferno I1974)
2. The Great Escape (1963)
Gregory Peck
1. THe Guns of Navarone (1961)
2. To Kill a Mockingbird (1962)
Dustin Hoffman
1. Midnight Cowboy (1969)
2. The Graduate (1967) |

 | | WannaBe: Another submarine movie, Gray Lady Down.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gray_L...
If you are McQ fan, gotta watch Bullitt.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bullitt |
Jan-29-13
 | | HeMateMe: There were no submarines in <Bullitt>. However, I did like that shotgun that Steve McQueen had. All he had to do was aim it at cars, and the cars would explode. The guys in afghanistan should have something like that. |
Jan-29-13 | | TheFocus: A great submarine movie: <The Bedford Incident>. Richard Widmark, Sidney Portier, James MacArthur and Martin Balsam. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0058962/ |
Jan-31-13 | | vinidivici: <There were no submarines in <Bullitt>.> lolol, Exactly. <WannaBe> just want to suggest the Steve McQueen movies that deserves to watch not particularly there has to be submarine in the movie. <Shams: "Run Silent, Run Deep" is also a classic submarine film. Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster.> This movie apparently a white and black movie. |
Jan-09-17 | | FairyPromotion: My favorite game in today's opening of the day, The Shabalov-Shirov Gambit. Analyzing moves 20-22 would make you dizzy, and the missed defensive resource <24...Qg4!!> leaves one in awe. A must see game for all chess fans! |
Jan-09-17 | | ChessHigherCat: I much preferred Submarine (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subma...) to that any of those blockbusters, which has the advantage of having nothing to do with hour-long "pong" effects, closeups of sweaty zygomatics under creepy red lights (or submarines, for that matter). |
Jan-10-17 | | ChessHigherCat: Correction: to any of those blockbusters... |
Dec-28-23 | | Cecco: Crazy. Even if you are a Grand Master, even if you have the advantage of a rook and two pieces, giving away the queen for free may be inconceivable. |
