Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-26-11  TheRavenPK: Very nice game by both.. I like many moves, for example 28..Rfe8, offering an exchange for a pair of unstoppable pawns; or the whole sequence 36.Bg6 threatening 37.f5+, but countered by 36..Bxh4 and 37..Re3+. Perhaps McShane should have played 25.Bxh4 Bxh4 26.Qxd4, I think he underestimated that creepy pawn.

Quite a catastrophe for McShane, since 5/6 start he is just 1/4..

Jan-27-11  sonny benitez: Very interesting game up to the end!
Jan-27-11  luzhin: Yes, a great struggle. I think the star move was 32...Qg7!! -- if then 33.Rxc7 Qg4 34.Bxe4 fxe4 and White is defenceless. But McShane's defensive resourcefulness thereafter was admirable: if Efimenko had played 37...Bg5 then after 38.Qd1 McShane would even be better! And of course if Efimenko had taken the Q with 44...Qxf4 then McShane would have delivered mate in 5!
Jan-31-11  Andrew Chapman: <Perhaps McShane should have played 25.Bxh4 Bxh4 26.Qxd4, I think he underestimated that creepy pawn.>I think you mean 25.Bxh6 - yes I was expecting that move - but then I was just thinking how to get the pawn back, in my patzer way..
Feb-09-11  geladar: what an incredible game..fascinating!
Oct-26-11  Six66timesGenius: This is the fasion of chess?
Jul-03-18  jith1207: Thanks for these hidden lines, guys. I think this is one of those games which give huge satisfaction to both players for playing excellent, in loss or victory.
