Jan-25-11  Marmot PFL: Quite a battle. 23 Na7 is questionable, maybe white missed 26...Rxc6 when he went into it.
Jan-25-11  Eyal: A post from yesterday (the rest day):

<Wesley So: Li Chao is addict in chess because it is the only thing he thinks about. He is not even coming in the tour he is probably gonna prepare> (Wesley So)

Jan-25-11  Don Cossacks: <PilosopoTasyo: <hellopolgar: it seems that So can only win games where he gets an early advantage out of the opening.>at least he could make use of his advantage to victory. there are those who don't. please accept the fact that the kid (So) is a great chess player, chinaman. look what's happening to your Li chao...two loses so far! going downhill at such an early age? give credit where the credit is due, chinaman. you should learn from <richardhanes> here!>
Jan-25-11  pulsar: 25.Ne7+ is interesting.

25...Kh8 26.c4 Ne5 is forced.

Then play may continue with 27.c5 Qxg4 28.d6 Rxc5 29.Kg1 (not Qxc5 because of Qh5+ and wins the Queen in the next move.).

White is now threatening to capture at c5, so 29...Rc4 30.Nd5 Rd4

31.Ne3 Nf3+ 32.Bxf3 Qxf3 33.Rad1 Rxd1 34.Rxd1 looks fine for White as he maintains the d6 passer.

Jan-25-11  pulsar: I thought that GM Li Chao came better prepared for this particular line, having lost with it earlier. GM So started thinking as early as his 14th move, while the Chinese GM took his time around the Na7-Nc6 maneuver. It was a very interesting fighting game, with GM Li dealing Wesley his first loss in the event.
Jan-26-11  rogge: Hahaha :)
Jan-26-11  pulsar: <Hahaha :)>

Pretty much sums up the game for those who wish to taunt or tease some Wesley So fans. ;)

Jan-26-11  rogge: Sorry <pulsar>. <Eyal's> and <Don Cossacks'> comments made me laugh. That's all.
Jan-26-11  pulsar: <rogge> I also laughed at the comments, that's why I tried to stir it to some lines in the game. Interesting stuff. The comments, and the game. :0
Jan-26-11  pulsar: <rogge> Hey, no need to apologize to me, I didn't take offence or anything. It's a funny thread!
Jan-26-11  rogge: OK, sorry for apologizing :)

We're cool.

Domdaniel: Where is McShane now? Gordon Brown, MacBeth, Darth Vader, your boy took a hell of a beating.
Jan-27-11  pulsar: After such a good start for Mac, the competitions caught up and (some) overtook. Mac has good prospects still. Such is the nature of competitive markets.

Domdaniel: Wm Shaxpere's lost chess book was originally called "Lead on, McShane" but the publishers changed it to "To Moro and to Moro and to Moro".

Creeps ...

Jan-30-11  pulsar: Ah, Luke, Luke what you've done?!
Jan-30-11  Bdellovibrio: Li Chao had an unimpressive beginning to the tournament so they substituted him for Li Chao2, as can be seen on the game score...
Jan-31-11  Don Cossacks: What <PilosopoTasyo> can say now?
