Jan-02-11  hedgeh0g: 31.f4?? just looks like an inexplicable blunder to me. The obvious response Rg6 leaves White helpless.
Jan-02-11  atragon: Godena always has time troubles. It's incredible he had never learned this lesson.
Jan-02-11  Eyal: <31.f4?? just looks like an inexplicable blunder to me.>

See also 34....g6?? in Vallejo-Pons vs M Godena, 2010 and 29...Rb8?? in V Gashimov vs M Godena, 2010. As <atragon> says, the explanation is time trouble - in all these games Godena spent nearly all of his time on the first 15-18 moves, and was reduced to playing blitz for the rest of the game.

HeMateMe: This is an odd looking variation, with that far advanced e pawn.
Jan-03-11  Jamboree: 31. f4??? is hideous beyond belief. I had originally thought that 32. Kh2 was also a blunder, but then I saw that white was completely lost no matter what move he made -- 32. Kh2 was no better and no worse than any other possible line.

Troller: Well, this is the way Godena is losing his games in this tournament. If he stays out of time trouble and avoids these blunders, he might end up in the middle of the field. But then, he'd probably also be rated 100 pts higher or so.
Jan-19-11  ReikiMaster: 31.Rd1 looks ok.
