FSR: Thanks, <LTJ>! White does a great job of holding onto and converting his extra pawn in the Benko Gambit, against a much higher-rated player. A game to gladden the heart of us 1.d4 players.
May-17-12  JohnBoy: True enough, <FSR>. But black can grab the a pawn after ...Bxc3 on moves 15 and 16. This leaves white with the b-file weakling. Some Benko players are more willing than others to part with the bishop on the long diagonal. The flexibility of the black plan here drives this 1.d4 player nutz.
May-17-12  kevin86: The strength of Hercules and two connected passed pawns-makes this ending inevitable.
