Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-17-10  weepingwarrior: Ivanchuk is so dangerous. When he wants to play, he really plays great chess!
Mar-17-10  BobCrisp: Has anyone beaten Aronian more times than Ivanchuk? The DB stats put Vassily ahead by 15-12 with 17 draws.

HeMateMe: white's piece for 3 pawns certainly looked promsising. Maybe he should have focused more on activating the dormant rook on e1, or getting the e pawn out to e4.
Mar-17-10  Kangaroo: The sacrifice was looking not so promising at all. Mainly it reminded me the one that happened 50 years ago, see Tal vs Botvinnik, 1960

In that game after the white knight was traded in for three pawns, Botvinnik later (in the joint post mortem analysis) impressed Tal by making a confession that he <DID NOT> even consider any serious threats and was conducting a simple plan: to exchange the rooks and to keep queens on the board.
