Mar-09-10  Blaise99a: Wow, here's an educational game. Amazing: you can be 2500 and still get 'educated' like that. - I learn more here than I do from a dozen Topalov Kramnik Anand games.....
Mar-09-10  HolyKnight: On move 21 for black, instead of trading off the rook, why not play f6 and e5. Cut down on the space of that bishop of whites.
Mar-09-10  Abdooss: If 4..Qxd5, the Black Queen's Bishop gets boxed in. If 4..ed, the pawn is isolated. The discussion continues since the Karpov-Korchnoi saga.. decision, decision.
Mar-10-10  pskogli: Black exchanged it down to a bad endgame, strange that a 2500 player can be so weak. It looked like a game between two kids.

alexrawlings: How would white win this game?
Mar-11-10  pskogli: With the Q-side pawns, black must give up material to stop them.
Mar-11-10  jahhaj: <How would White win?> By queening a pawn presumably, or making Black lose material to stop a pawn queening.

This reminds me of one of the games in Michael Stean's classic book 'Simple Chess'. A game with no tactical complexities that illustrates a positional idea (two ideas in this case, queen side pawn majority and two bishops). Perhaps the only drawback from an educational point of view is that Black resigned too early.

Mar-11-10  paavoh: Perhaps one mistake was 7.- Qc6 taking away a good square to develop the Black Knight.
Mar-14-10  znsprdx: <alexrawlings: How would white win this game?> I'm not certain White has much after the simple 27...e5 <jahhaj: perhaps...Black resigned too early> you got that right

so...e5 requires consideration

28.c6 Bxc6 29.Bc5+(not forced of course) bx[B]c5
30.Bx[B]c6 Rb2! 31.Rd7+ Ke6
32.Rxa7 (... Kd5? 33.c7)

...32.Kd6 33.Ra6 Nc7 Rb6! 35.Ra2 a6

> seems far from an easy win

Mar-14-10  pskogli: Computer lines is not so interesting, Black resigned because he didn't find anny defence. The interesting lines, is what whent trough the players mind when the game was played.
Mar-30-10  ounos: 25. ...Nc7, then what
Jan-16-12  nummerzwei: <znsprdx: <alexrawlings: How would white win this game?> I'm not certain White has much after the simple 27...e5 <jahhaj: perhaps...Black resigned too early> you got that right so...e5 28.c6 [...]>

Surely 28.cxb6 is game over.

Dec-29-21  Stanco: <nummerzwei> exactly. White takes 28.cb6 laid back
