Jul-09-09  Ulhumbrus: One of the creepers has been exchanged. Now Leko has to stop the other N from creeping on to his weaknesses
Jul-09-09  Ulhumbrus: I am off for a while. I shall await seeing what will have happened in the interval with interest
Jul-09-09  Marmot PFL: 21...Ke7 with a good position.
Jul-09-09  agb2002: How about Bc8-Bb7, releasing Black's QR?
Jul-09-09  achieve: Lekö - the World's Greatest Neutralizer

Domdaniel: I prefer 21...f6, to free the Nc6 and allow ...Nxb4 if white plays cxb4.
Jul-09-09  twinlark: Neither side controls the open file or is likely to, both sides have potential outpost squares on the c-file, the pawn structures are intact and equal and opposite. But Black has the two bishops.

This looks like a draw coming up, maybe after a long endgame grind if Leko fancies his chances.

Jul-09-09  agb2002: <Domdaniel: I prefer 21...f6, to free the Nc6 and allow ...Nxb4 if white plays cxb4.> That makes sense although I'd prefer ... Bxb4 to have the possibility of ... Nd4.
Jul-09-09  PhilFeeley: <twinlark>?? Both have two bishops.
Jul-09-09  vaiking: Not any more
Jul-09-09  achieve: Bye Bye BeeBees
Jul-09-09  twinlark: Why would White consider taking the pawn on b4?

<Phil> Yeah I know, but I like the look of Black's. All right, I stuffed up, but it still looks dead equal.

Jul-09-09  twinlark: famous last words
Jul-09-09  beenthere240: Dead equal is right.

ketchuplover: thanks for the game. may we please have another? thank you
Jul-09-09  karnak64: Fizzle.
Jul-09-09  acirce: Boo, hiss! Why are Lékó and Kramnik so boring? Don't they know they are supposed to lose to Carlsen with Black like Naiditsch and Jakovenko did, not draw him easily?
Jul-09-09  whiteshark: Note to self: Wishful thinking isn't a good forecaster.
Jul-09-09  Ulhumbrus: It looks as if following the exchange of a pair of Knights and then a pair of bishops, Carlsen's remaining Knight and bishop are unable to creep up successfully on Black's position. Leko has succeeded in defending against the creeping.
Jul-09-09  acirce: I suppose 14..Re8 improved on Aronian's probably dubious plan to bring the king into the center immediately by 14..Kf8, 15..Ke7. Karjakin vs Aronian, 2009
Jul-09-09  Dionyseus: This "game" looks very familiar, I think I might have practiced this opening 20 years ago.
Jul-10-09  AgentRgent: I hate to toot my own horn, but Carlsen vs Leko, 2009 :"AgentRgent: I think that Carlsen is definately impressive, but Leko should draw fairly easily I should think." Beep Beep. ;-)
Jul-10-09  znsprdx: I simply do not understand 14.Bc4; surely the natural 14.Nc4 offers more of a challenge.
Jul-10-09  kdogphs: For such a dynamic and exciting opening as the Ruy Lopez, this ws a dull game.
