Nov-18-08  arsen387: great exchange sac by Gabi.
Nov-18-08  Gilmoy: Stellwagen seems to sleepwalk from 11 to 22 -- trade, trade, trade, and hardly any ideas deeper than 2-ply. He finally gets his belabored <23..Nc5> outpost, and it promptly loses! Sargissian must have had a good hour to prepare the sac to unblockade e -- ever since <10..Na6> telegraphed Black's intent.

Mindless-trade has a canonical weakness: the more patient side gets right of refusal, i.e. first choice of accepting those trades that win positional benefits. <19..Be5 20.Nb5!> White declines the blah B trade, doubles on d6, and discovers on c4. Black can only scramble his pawn back: <20..Bxb2 21.Rxc4> and now a Rook lift is a plus, while there is no such thing as a "Bishop lift" (we already have the term "en prise" for them). <21..Be5> sacs a tempo to save d6, and White gets an easy double on c, which dictates the rest of the game.

<arsen387: great exchange sac by Gabi.>

Sargissian sacrifices the exchange in order to create a *monster* passed d-pawn.
