  bright1: Was 20. Bxh7+ a sound sacrifice?
Sep-11-08  holland oats: Yes, it would be deadly to accept Bxh7. Of course not Nxh7 because Rxd8+ would win. If Kxh7, Bxf6 and black can't take the rook or the bishop without being mated after Qh5+ Qxf7+ etc.

bright1: Let me clarify my previous question.

20. Bxh7+ Kxh7
21. Bxf6 Bb4xd2
22. Qh5+ Bh6

and now what?

Sep-13-08  holland oats: Black gets mated quickly: 20.Bxh7+ Kxh7 21.Bxf6 Bb4xd2 22.Qh5+ Bh6 23.Bxg7! Rd1+ 24.Rxd1 Kxg7 (any other move gets mated with 25.Qxh6 Kg8 26.Qh8#) 25.Qxf7+ Kh8 26.Ng6#
