Oct-01-08  whiteshark:

You went away and left me long time ago
And now you're Nukin on my door

I hear you Nukin
But you can't come in

I hear you Nukin
Go back where you've been

Dec-07-08  WhiteRook48: What the?? I don't believe these guys played for so long? Oh, and who the heck is Nukin???
Dec-07-08  syracrophy: Here is an article that can clear your doubts:

http://www.chesscafe.com/text/muell...

It is based on the famous analysis of A. Troitzky on the ♔+♘+♘ VS ♙+♔ endgames, where they are possibilities of mating with two ♘ with a ♙ of the opponent, but, believe me, it's a really hard task

Feb-07-09  WhiteRook48: so where did white blunder into a draw?
Mar-04-09  David2009: After 66 moves the position with White to play is (W)K at c4, N at c5, N at e4, (B) k at f5, p at e5 The last capture had been made on move 65. According to the Nalimov Tablebase http://www.lokasoft.nl/tbweb.htm the fastest route to victory is Ng3+ followed by Nc4-e4. But Nukin's moves are natural enough. His plan should be to post his moving Knight on c5, d6 or e3 and manoeuvre with the K. At move 93, he has his Knights well posted and with 27 moves to spare has reached

Here Nukin started to go wrong with 93 Nc3. This surrenders the blockade square too cheaply: sooner or later, it is necessary to move the blockading N, but much better is 93. Nd6 e.g. Ka4 94. Ng2! Kb3 95. Ne4 Ka4 96. Nd2 Ka3 97. Kc4 Kb2 98. Ne4 Ka3 99 Nc5 etc and White is gradually trapping the King. It is often best for the defender not to push the pawn immediately, let the attacker to the work. Thus, 93. Nd6 e4 94. Nb7+ is more clear-cut for White.

After 93. Nc3 e4 the position is still won with accurate play. 94. Nb5 is correct, e.g. Ka4 95. Nd4 Ka5 96. Nb3+ Ka4 97. Kc4, Ka3 98. Nc5 etc. This manoeuvre is worth noting as a typical way of confining the defending King. As played, 94. Kc5-b4?? threw away the win which is no longer possible within fifty moves with best play by Black. I have not examined the rest of the game.

There is an excellent practical example of how to play this ending in V Bondarets vs W Veer, 2008.

Mar-21-09  WhiteRook48: although it is hard to see 93 Nd6
Mar-25-09  timhortons: wheres the pgn of these game?
