Jul-24-08  offtherook: <jaybugg13: Do we think the clocks are right on? If it is that is some serious time trouble.> Yeah, Pelletier's toast. No way he'll be able to survive until time control, and even if he does he already has a basically lost position.
Jul-24-08  Waitaka: <acirce: 31..Bxh3 32.Kxh3 g5 is pretty convincing.> You are right, 31.Bxh3 is killing.
Jul-24-08  offtherook: Odd choice. Perhaps he didn't want to grab the knight because that would give Pelletier some "easy" moves where he didn't have to think so long? Well, P will be out on time shortly.

Jul-24-08  boz: Did the wrong rook dance out on the stage? Where's the vaudeville hook?
Jul-24-08  offtherook: Huh? I thought Pelletier ran out on time just now? Plus, Alekseev was killing him on the board even if you ignore the clocks. What, did Alekseev's cell phone ring or something?
Jul-24-08  severus6: yes, on the official feed, it has Alekseev winning

That has to be a mistake. There is no way Alekseev (or anyone in their right mind) would ever resign from that position, even disregarding the fact that he was about to be handed a win on time.
