Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-03-11  Sem: 10. c5!, the move that IMO determines the game.
Jan-13-12  King Death: A better way to play against this sideline 7.c4 may be 7...Ne7 as in this game: E Walther vs Keres, 1959, although Black's play here was very weak, he gave his opponent everything without putting up any kind of a fight. The play is more like a game from a simul than one between masters.
Jan-13-12  SimonWebbsTiger: @<King Death>

and you would be correct. Theory does give the nod to the maneuver ...Ng8-e7-g6.

White's whole plan is, of course, to attack the doubled pawn complex.

A more recent example is Adams vs Conquest, 1997

Conquest lost but it wasn't due to his opening choice.

Jan-13-12  King Death: <Simon> When I played this it was always with 7.Nc3 and I don't really remember seeing 7.c4. It's been a long time though.
