Aug-13-07  THE pawn: WHAT? NO WAY! (Norway...)
Aug-13-07  cotdt: no way this game happened! carlsen does not play like this!
Aug-13-07  Gegga: Well, Ingrid Carlsen does :-)
I don't think Magnus (or Henrik) would fall for this one...
Aug-13-07  THE pawn: Ok ok fiouuu. Yesterday, M. Carlsen was the black pieces.
Aug-16-07  ChessJock: Quite a rating she has there ;)
Sep-18-07  chessamateur: I can't believe this happened at such a high level competition. This is the oldest Smith Morra trick in the book.
Sep-18-07  timhortons: shes like below 1700 elo rating......shes the sister of magnus...i came across these game when i start scanning the pages for related games to our game of the day morra gambit...the carlsen name caught my attention and what a game it is
Oct-30-07  Udit Narayan: You have to watch out for simple tricks like that....
Nov-14-07  Udit Narayan: http://www.arcticchess.org/bilder/r...
Dec-26-07  computerchezplayer: 2710 uh huh! common if this player got 2700 Elo, that time what was alekhine? i think 9600 or more... Rating is given by considering the player's power of play and power of analysing esthetical or artificial moves he or she made, not her beautiness!!!!! :)))
Jun-15-10  SpiritedReposte: 2700!? I knew this trick when I first started playing it when i was 1500. Morra Gambit is awesome even if unsound. On a completely irrelevant note I just played a Morra Gambit "novelty" that seemed strong, then weak, then strong again.

1.e4 c5
2.d4 cxd4
3.c3 dxc3
4.Nxc3 Nc6
5.Nf3 g6? <Don't think theres time for this.> 6.Bc4 Bg7
7.O-O e6
8.Nb5!<I think the best move>...d5??<Losing blunder looks like Black must accept a knight on d6.> 9.exd5 exd5
10.Bxd5 Nge7 <Now Black can castle?> 11.Nd6+! Qxd6
12.Bxf7+! Kd7!<Uh-oh did not reckon with this. Appears the queen is not hanging after all. Thought for a good 5 minutes before seeing...>13. Bf4!

<Now the only move is to exchange queens then Blacks king is effectively checkmated and must give back material and then White is winning. The game lasted 6 more moves after 13.Bf4!>

Nov-03-11  transpo: 6...Nf6?? Black must play 6.a6 first in order to deny White the b5 square and thereby nullify all of White's tactical shots beginning with 7.e5
Mar-18-13  John Abraham: I was just going through some of the games of Carlsen's sister. This is an elementary tactic that she missed

<SpiritedReposte> That's a very wonderful miniature. The position is ripe for study and analysis. Thanks for sharing

6...Nf6 is inaccurate, but Black is still fine after 7...Ng4!

Apr-04-25  VerySeriousExpert: Here is a suggestion for "Game of the Day" pun:

"Beat M-s Carlsen easily, Magnus or Miss"

Apr-04-25  VerySeriousExpert: Another pun suggestion is:

"Beat M-s Carlsen easily, no role, Magnus or Miss"
