alexrawlings: Nice finish! Could make a fun puzzle with White to move at move 33 and checkmate in two moves.
Dec-27-10  sevenseaman: Bologan coolly lets Palo have his harmless fling before the end. A good chess player ought to waste no move.

plang: Bologan was familiar with 8 Qb1 from a 1995 computer game but this was the first time it was played by humans; prior to this game 8 Nb5 had been the main line. 9..b6 10 bxc..bxc 11 Rb7..d4 12 Ng5..Nh6 13 Nb5 would have favored White. 14 Na7! looks risky but created problems for Black; on the other hand both 14 Nc3..Bb4 and 14 Nd6+..Bxd6 15 exd..Nf6 would have given Black counterplay. 16..Bg6 would have allowed a decisive, unstoppable sacrifice on e6: 17 Bg4!..Nc6 18 Bxe6..Nxa7 19 Bxd5..Nb5 20 Nxf7. 26 Nc5 set up a pretty, concluding mating net not falling for 26 Nxg7?..Rg8 27 Nxf5..Nh3 28 Be3..Bg5! when the position is quite unclear.
