Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-13-06  Albertan: The move 5.Nbd2 is a rarely played continuation. Usually White plays 5.Bd2 and play continues 5...Bxd2+ 6.Nbxd2 exd4 7.Bxc4 Nc6. I would much rather have the position that White has in this main line than the position Ushenina accepts in this game.
Aug-13-06  Albertan: Another possible move for White on move 10 was 10.e5. A possible variation with 10.e5 is:

10.e5 Qf5 11. Bb2 Qf4 12. g3 Qf5
13. Nb3 Bxb2 14. Rxb2 Nge7 and White has some compensation for the two pawns.

Aug-13-06  Albertan: The move 18.Qb1 looks better for white than the move Ushenina chose (18.Ne4). A variation which includes 18.Qb1 is:

18. Qb1 a6 19. Rxb7 Bxb7 20. Qxb7 Kd7 21. Qb1 with compensation for the pawn.

Aug-13-06  Albertan: On move 21 Ushenina could have tried playing 21.Neg5!? and play might have continued: 21...Nxf3+ 22.Nxf3 Qf6 23.Qxd4 Qxd4 24.Nxd4 Rd8 25.g3 Nh3+ 26.Kg2 Ng5
Feb-16-18  tgyuid: what; in endgames where a knight versus a bishop the knight may be defined as a donkey
Feb-16-18  tgyuid: let me tell you something about donkeys; romulus
