Oct-03-06  Gantreel: I'm not sure, but it seems to me that Mr./Ms. Wood might have chosen a better variation in the opening.
Oct-03-06  Chicago Chess Man: Lol. I've never seen so many blunders in a row. 4. ...d5?? 5 ...Bd6??? 6 ...Bd7??????
Oct-03-06  vizir: this makes me think of
1. e4 e5
2. Nf3 Nc6
3. Bb5 a6
4. Ba4 Nf6
5. 0-0 Nxe4
6. d4 exd4?!
7. Re1 d5
8. Nxd4 Bd6
9. Nxc6 Bxh2+
Oct-03-06  jamesmaskell: Uh? Gaby Wood is clearly not a serious chessplayer then.
Oct-03-06  chessarmenia: This doesnt remind me of the berlin defense kramnik used against kasparov for some reason....
Oct-03-06  flamboyant: This Queen sacrifice on move 7 might be a little too overoptimistic :D
Oct-03-06  reynolds: This sure was a tough match for Gazza.
Feb-09-07  kolf: Gaby Wood is a journalist for the Guardian newspaper, quite a good one in fact. Think she's written a novel too. Must've been a simul or something.
Feb-10-07  dejavu: "Legend crushes mortal", Gazza meets deadwood.Wood burned by Gaz-za.
Apr-30-07  actionhero56: black should have given up after move 7
Oct-11-07  ChessJock: Spectacular...
Aug-23-08  apexin: nice game it goes in my collection

OhioChessFan: Usually players that bad make you play to mate.
Apr-09-11  Antonina: 4...d5 is not a blunder. I played against this as white and I lost. I agree that the rest of the game is a series of black's mistakes, especially Bd7 losing the queen.
Apr-09-11  chessaddict25: why is this game on the database?....maybe chessgames.com should consider uploading some of my games
Apr-09-11  BobCrisp: If and when you succeed in getting thrashed by a leading GM, you too can have your fleeting moment of fame.
Jul-01-12  Cushion: Why did black resign? :)

  tpstar: Wood Pushover

Black's Queen sacrifice was ultimately unsound. :P

Sep-15-12  TheTamale: White threatens Bg5+ followed by QxR mate. The amazing thing is that Black was able to recognize this and resigned.
May-16-17  sicilianhugefun: Kasparov must be the Black player

19.Re1 is too subtle for me. I'd have played 19.b4.
